About
In one of those Lightbulb moments, I realised that the North Oxford Canal meanders for several miles throug Rugby and the borough of Rugby. There are at least 5 hire fleets in the area, several canal side bars and cafes, 3 marinas, two farm mooring sites, several boat yards and more. Dispite all of this very little is known about it outside of the canal community. Many folk are not even aware that there is a canal in Rugby. There is also a wealth of history as it dates back to the 1700's when it was used to transport goods such as coal. So why are we not celebrating it. At present this is a proposal and no funding in place, we need to gauge support and look into that, And this is how the idea for Rugbycanalfest was born. At present I am putting together a proposal and asking the people and businesses on the canal for input before contacting the local tourist board and water authorities. So if you are interested in being part of this contact me by email |
